DC Moto TF Ride Day with Josh Hill

In the 2010 AMA Supercross Championship series, Josh Hill consistently found himself on the podium. He ended the season sixth overall in points, in which he finished second in 5 of the 17 Main Events. In July, Josh spent time preparing for the 'Speed and Style' event for X Games 16. His practice session went from 'landing a backflip on his first attempt' to 'under rotating the next time around.' This horrific crash sent Josh to the hospital with a list of injuries and a whole new respect for the sport of Freestyle Motocross. I caught up with Josh, at Pala Raceway for the DC Moto TF Ride day, where he talked about his rehabilitation, his plans for Supercross 2011, and more!

Josh Hill at the DC Moto TF Ride Day

Angela: Hey Josh, you are looking good. How are you feeling?

Josh: Yeah I am getting better, everything is starting to heal up and I am getting to where I can function normally again. So it is getting better, but I need to focus on getting my body stronger. That is my main thing right now.

RJ Says: State of Supercross

As the West Region ends for a while, and East region gets ready to start up ... In 250 West Supercross 2010, Jake Weimer and Trey Canard are showing a lot of confidence right now. I'm very impressed with both of these racers right now. This past race at Anaheim was a good example for both of them.

Series points leader Jake Weimer has a great heat race with a win, even after that heat was red-flagged. Jake had some trouble in the Main Event, but showed his smarts by charging hard the full 15 laps, coming up to eighth at the finish ... that could literally save his season and potentially the championship title.

Trey had some problems in his heat, but came back very strong in the final - he won the 250 Main in Anaheim. That shows a lot of maturity from him as a rider.

RJ Says: Moving to Pro 4 Off-Road Truck Racing in 2011

Last year I won the TORC Pro 2 Off-Road Truck racing championship. This year I'm moving to the Pro 4 class.

What's the difference between Pro 2 and Pro 4? Pro 2 is two wheel drive. Pro 4 is four wheel drive.

With Pro 4 you can drive more aggressively - you can get on the gas more, because you have much more traction with all four wheels.

Also in 2011, I'm with a new team - Menzies. Plus I have help from Dodge, and Red Bull.

In this video below, this is one of the first times I started testing for 2011. It's a track at Glen Helen Raceway! (Home of the US MX GP)

2011 World Motocross Preview

The 2011 FIM World Motocross Championships starts this weekend in Bulgaria. But the activities surrounding the opening round started earlier in the week.

Before we get into this story and photos, there is one thing we are excited about regarding the 2011 World MX GP Series. And that is the new VOD (Video on Demand) System being implemented. It's brand new, the quality is outstanding, you can purchase a season pass and watch:

Saturday's Studio "Life-Style" Show, Saturday's Qualifying Races, and of course, all of the Grand Prix racing on Sunday's. It's a great deal of content, and, additional delivery platforms are coming as well as your computer! Just sign up, you can pay thru Pay Pal, even without having a Pay Pal account!

First, Thursday, in the center of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, a 'presentation' featuring the backdrop of the world famous Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, including an appearance by the Bulgarian Prime Minister (the equivalent of President Obama showing up at a MX in the USA). The prime minister's name is Boyko Borisov.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral in Sofia is on of tne of the largest Eastern Orthodox Churches in the world. The building of the actual Cathedral took years, but it was completed in 1912.

And on Friday, at the Gorna Rositza race circuit in Sevlievo Bulgaria, one of the nicest MX tracks in the world, Monster Yamaha introduced their 2011 teams and riders.

Top weekend for Red Bull Teka KTM factory riders in National and International Motocross Races

As the Red Bull Teka KTM factory riders make their final preparations for the MX1, MX2 and WMX World Motocross Championship season, they rode and impressed in several national championship rounds this weekend in Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.

MX1 factory duo Tony Cairoli and Max Nagl rode in Cingoli, Italy in Round Three of the Italian Championship, which proved fertile ground for KTM's Italian reigning MX1 champion. Tony scored a 3-1 result on the challenging track for a total of 200 championship points while Max finished with a 5-7 score for the day. Tony's performance was hampered by the fact that he raced with the flu and a strength sapping fever.

Interview: AMA Women's Motocross Champion Jessica Patterson

Jessica Patterson is the 2010 AMA Women's National Motocross Champion. Here is Supercross.com's latest interview with JP$.

Jessica, congratulations on your 2010 AMA Women's National MX Championship. You walked away with some amazing trophies from this summer's race wins .... where do you put all those great awards, and what does it mean to you when you see them?

Thanks Annj. I usually go straight to my parents house and drop them all off and let my mom decorate the house with them. But recently she told me that I have started to bring home too many, and to figure out where to put them at my place because her place is now full.

Her suggestion to me was to rent a storage unit if I didn?t want to keep them all over the house. They are all just hanging out at her house right now, and eventually when I decide where I want to move, then I will take them with me and start the decorating.

To see the trophies is pretty cool. It is what I have been working so hard for, and after struggling for for two years and now coming back and winning the championship in 2010, it makes it that much better. Seeing that I have all those number 1 trophies from each race except for two, it reminds me of how good of a year it really was, so it makes me really happy and makes me want to keep pushing.

Making Passes

Anaheim has came and passed once again. It is great to finally have some racing back on and each class looks to be very tight, if everyone stays healthy. Something that caught my attention was that some of the riders were commenting that the track was a little difficult to pass on. Yet, James Stewart [...]

MX Adventures

A Supercross is usually filled with its share of dramatic moments. From the jump off the gate to those first turn pile ups, all the way to that finish and everything in between, the action at Supercross is always nonstop.

The 2010 Phoenix Supercross had more dramatic moments than your normal race. However it was in those days that followed that the drama grew with various opinions that were blasted across message boards and blogs. I certainly appreciated the hot topics brought to the surface by the many people who love the sport of Supercross. And like you I have my own thoughts on the James Stewart and Chad Reed 'incident' ...

It was just one year ago when a controversy made headlines with Jason Lawrence, Josh Hansen and Steve Boniface were 'fighting'.

The backlash for those guys were met by AMA officials. Last year the Rules stated that the following offense is subject to disciplinary action:

An attack on a Racing official and/or engaging in a fight. This includes any person who attacks or is involved in a fight anywhere on the premises prior to, during, or after an AMA Supercross meet. There will be no maximum fine or suspension period for this offense.

My point here is that Supercross is no stranger to its share of drama but in the aftermath of last year, and now Phoenix, what does it take to show some true sportsmanship and character in tough occupation?

James commented thru his blog initially. Info on Chad Reed came thru Kawasaki and Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Mike Fisher stated that Chad would not return to racing until he is 100 percent. Chad is expected to miss a minimum of six weeks to heal his broken left hand. Six to seven weeks puts us near the Daytona Supercross and by then there will still be eight races left on the schedule.
